Auxiliary cop wins BMW 320i in lucky draw at Ramadan bazaar

MELAKA: Auxiliary police officer Mohamad Helmi Mohammad, 32, won the grand prize of a BMW 320i at the Glam Bazaar Ramadan Klebang opening ceremony lucky draw here last night.

Helmi said his win was a Ramadan and Aidilfitri blessing.

He said he shivered when he was announced as the winner as he did not expect it.

He said he had never participated in a lucky draw before and winning the top prize was a first.

He was moved when he received a replica key from Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh.

"I am very grateful for the win. My wife filled out the lucky draw coupon she received after spending about RM700 at the bazaar. I never expected to be the grand prize winner."

Helmi, who works as an auxiliary police officer at Petronas and hails from Kelantan, said he has not decided yet whether he would use the car or sell it.

Second prize winner Norshaidatul Akma Borhan, 37, walked away with a Perodua Axia.

"I accompanied my father to the bazaar. We spent about RM400 and filled out the lucky draw coupon.

"I am thankful for the win. I will use the car for daily needs."

On another matter, Ab Rauf said up to last month, Melaka had welcomed 3.3 million tourists during the Visit Melaka Year.

He said the mega Ramadan bazaar benefited local traders and enlivened Ramadan and Aidilfitri celebrations.

He said more than 300,000 people visited the Glam Bazaar Ramadan Klebang, with sales reaching almost RM3 million so far.
