RoS should ban organisations spreading contradicting Islamic ideologies

KUALA LUMPUR: A Wanita Umno leader has urged the Registrar of Societies and the Registrar of Companies to ban organisations found to have spread religious ideologies which contradict the teachings of Islam.

Baling Umno Wanita chief Datuk Dr Mashitah Ibrahim said she was concerned over the existence of such organisations, which carried the word ‘Islam’ in their names but propagated deviant teachings to the people.

“We would like to urge ROS and ROC to disallow the registration of any organisation which use the term ‘Islam’ in vain. It doesn’t matter if they are called Brothers in Islam, Sisters in Islam, or Mothers and Fathers in Islam.

“Their names may contain the word ‘Islam’, but the teachings they bring differ from the ones taught by the Sunnah Wal Jamaah sect,” she said when seconding the education, religion and social motion at Wanita Umno’s annual general assembly here.

Mashitah, who is former Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, said these organisations were spreading pro-lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender propaganda under the guise of promoting Islam.

“They also promote the ideologies of liberalism and pluralism, and this goes against the teachings of Islam. How can they use the phrase “We are all God’s Children” which are often mentioned by the Christians?

“This goes against our ‘aqidah’, as Allah has no children, is the child of no one, and is not the parent of anyone,” she said, adding that younger Muslims who did not possess a good understanding of Islam would be easily confused.

“The funny thing is, even some Pas leaders can subscribe to such beliefs.”

Mashitah also urged religious event organisers, television and radio stations to refrain from inviting religious speakers who possessed “questionable” qualities to give Islamic talks to Muslims in the country.

“Speakers with bad ‘aqidah’ or confusing ideologies should be not allowed to make an appearance. It doesn’t matter if it is Aminah Wadud or any other speakers from any country in the world,” she said to an applause from the floor.

Mashitah said all Islamic speakers should first be screened to ensure that they do not confuse the public with their deviant and and confusing teachings.

In a related matter, Mashitah said there were currently efforts by the “enemies of Islam” to lead Muslims in Malaysia astray.

“There are people who are trying to equate Allah to God, when in actuality, there is no God but Allah... more recently, Muslims are now being encouraged to touch dogs. We are absolutely against the Muslim dog lovers (movement).”
