KUALA LUMPUR: Soon, it will be a breeze to become Umno members.
The party will be introducing online registration in its effort to garner support from youth, said Umno president Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
In his presidential speech at the annual assembly this morning, Najib said this was a new commitment by the top leadership to provide wider access to draw youth as members.
"The system will come under the registration (unit) at the party headquarters for people as young as 18 years old to register as a party member," he said.
Via the new system, Najib said it would be easier for youth to be Umno members and they would be given membership serial number after the registration.
He said the introduction of the system received support from Umno top leadership as a way to get more people from the younger generation to be party members.
