House turned into gambling den, owner, 9 gamblers arrested in Sg Siput

SUNGAI SIPUT: Police has thwarted an attempt to revive online gambling activity with the arrest of a man and nine gamblers at a house in Kampung Salak Bahru, near here.

In a raid carried out around midnight, a 56-year-old house owner was arrested allegedly for turning his residence into a gambling den.

Acting Sungai Siput police district chief Superintendent Ernest John said besides the home owner, nine others, believed to be gamblers, between the age of 17 and 29, were also arrested.

Police also seized six laptops and RM500 cash.

Speaking to reporters today, John said the gambling activity was detected based on intelligence gathered.

"The home-owner, whom police believe is the organiser of the activity, had only recently started his gambling business.

"Police views gambling activities very seriously and we will not hesitate to act promptly if there were reports of revival of such activity in the Sungai Siput district," he said, adding that all 10 people arrested had been remanded for four days.
