Umno urged to retain Human Resources Minister's post

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno should retain the Human Resources Minister’s post.

Datuk Shaiful Hazizy Zainol Abidin said this was to ensure that the interest of Malay employees in the private sector could be given better protection.

“If need be, I suggest the Human Resources Minister post to be returned to the Malays to safeguard our interest.

“I am disappointed with some stakeholders in the corporate (private) sector that seem to be sceptical to hire Malay’s said the Pemuda Umno

“What is lacking with our race (Malays) who are polite, hardworking and respectful to their leaders and others?” he said in his debate on the Economic motion at the Umno General Assembly here at Putra World Trade Centre .

Shaiful Hazizy claimed that salaries to Bumiputra employees in the private were 32 per cent lower, compared to that received by other races.

The debate on the Economic motion which continued today saw more delegates urging for more economic opportunities and benefits provide for the Malay’s.

Umno Kedah representative Datuk Abdullah Hasnan Kamaruddin stressed on the increasing rate of unemployment affecting Malays.

He said the government must come out with a holistic approach to tackle the problem without sidelining other races.

National Graduate representative Muhammad Nazim Abdul Malek suggested the government to focus on economic development involving youths.

“The government thorough its existing agencies should introduce more business opportunities for youths.

“This to ensure they can generate their own source of income and be independent,” he said.
