KOTA KINABALU Several areas in the state capital are hit by flash floods due to continuous downpour since morning.
Among the affected places were Jalan Sulaman near 1 Borneo shopping mall, Jalan Sepanggar, Jalan Tuaran, Maktab Sabah and Kepayan Ridge.
A Sabah Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said the department is on alert as the flood water was rising steadily.
Meanwhile, Malaysian Meteorology Department said thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are expected to persist until tonight particularly in west coast and interior divisions of the state, as well as in Labuan.
