Body of murdered man found at palm oil plantation

JOHOR BARU: A body of an unidentified man was found at a palm oil plantation in Jalan Dato' Onn here today.

The body of a man, clad only in his underwear, was believed to have been in his 50s.

The victim was believed to have been murdered based on the wounds found on his body.

Johor Baru Selatan police chief Assistant Commissioner Sulaiman Salleh said police received a call from the public at 11am today.

"Police personnel were immediately despatched to the scene and found the victim's body about 50 metres from the plantation," he said.

Sulaiman said upon arrival, police found the victim's body covered in sand due to the rain the night before.

He said initial investigation showed wounds from a sharp object on the victim's right hand and fingers and also left leg.

Sulaiman said police were still investigating the case and determining the motive.

He said the body has been sent to the Sultanah Aminah Hospital for a post-mortem.

Sulaiman said investigators have classified the case under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
