Flash flood hits Ipoh, residents evacuated

IPOH: Residents of Kampung Seri Klebang Tambahan 2 were evacuated after their houses were inundated in one-metre of water late yesterday.

More than 50 were affected by the flash floods caused by continuous downpour since evening.

The rain caused a nearby river to burst its banks and its water to overflow into the houses.

Ipoh Fire and Rescue Department operations chief P. Samasuvam said the affected victims were evacuated to SK Seri Klebang.

He said the department received a distress call about 9.45pm and rushed to the scene.

"When we arrived, the area has already been flooded.

"We then evacuated the victims to safer grounds," he added.
