Taliworks to take over expressway for RM265m

KUALA LUMPUR: Public utilities operator Taliworks Corp Bhd is taking over the New North Klang Straits Bypass Expressway from the government for RM265 million.

Taliworks said in a filing to Bursa Malaysia yesterday Jejak Melewar Sdn Bhd, in which it has a 75 per cent indirect interest, received a letter of award from the government yesterday to take over the assets and concession rights of the 17.5km expressway.

“The company will make the appropriate announcement upon the signing of the relevant agreements and documents to effect the aforesaid and any other developments relating to this in due course.”

New North Klang Straits Bypass Expressway is a two-lane dual carriageway linking Port Klang to the Klang town. It was completed in 1998.

Taliworks, which is company involved in water and waste-related businesses, has expanded its core expertise to include highway management, construction and engineering, and wastewater research and technology.

Its shares closed eight sen higher to RM1.96 yesterday.
