Xmas Eve by the lake at Putrajaya

KUALA LUMPUR: TUCK into a Yuletide dinner tonight while enjoying the view at Putrajaya Lake at The Village restaurant in Pullman Putrajaya Lakeside hotel.

The restaurant is serving a five-course meal, with an appetiser of steeped scallops, French style poached scallops, steeped in mustard garlic dressing served with a side of mixed mesclun.

Pullman Putrajaya sous chef Ahmad Zaidi Abd Razak said the dish is infused with a sweet flavour as it is glazed with orange juice and mustard dressing.

The second course is the crab bisque, which is a rich, creamy soup topped with crab meat dumpling and fresh coriander.

“To enhance the flavours and fragrant smell, the crabs are roasted first before they are blended with other ingredients to produce a thick, creamy soup.”

Before diving into the main course, a delicious passionfruit sorbet topped with spiced raspberry puree lacing will be served.

“We serve the passion fruit sorbet before the main course as the acidic fruits will help to clean the palate before the next course. This is important in order to fully enjoy the main course meal,” said pastry chef Zam Zaini Hussin.

For the main course, diners will be able to choose between a roast turkey, an Oz chilled beef tenderloin, or a seafood dish of salmon and jumbo prawns.

“The roast turkey is served with a sage stuffing and drizzled with giblet as well as cranberry sauce.”

“The stuffing uses ingredients like chestnut, raisins and even dried apricots to enhance the sweet flavour,” said Zaidi.

Another choice would be the Oz chilled beef tenderloin marinated with various herbs and spices.

“We marinate the meat with herbs such as basil, rosemary, thyme and garlic with olive oil before topping it off with cajun spices right before it goes onto the grill,” said Zaidi.

The salmon and jumbo prawn dish is a dream for any seafood lover as it combines grilled fresh Norwegian salmon with meaty jumbo prawns on a bed of creamy capers sauce.

All of the main course dishes are served with brussel sprouts and roast potatoes.

Last but not least, for dessert there is Christmas pudding served with salted caramelised sauce and raspberry ripple ice-cream.

Tea and coffee is served with dessert.

The five course menu at The Village is priced at RM138++ per person tonight.

Dinner starts from 7pm to 11pm.
