Updated: 2 buried under LRT concrete slab, recovered

KUALA LUMPUR: The last victim trapped under the pile of metal form work and scaffoldings in Kampung Kuala Sungai Baru was extricated by rescuers at 1.25am, today.
Selangor fire and rescue operation chief Sani Harun said the remains were surrendered to the police after a doctor declared him dead, upon his discovery.
"His body was sent to Serdang Hospital for a post-mortem" he said.
Sani said investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Six construction workers were injured, while two more dead when liquid concrete collapsed at Ampang (AMG) LRT Extension Project site in Kampung Kuala Sungai Baru.
In the 4.20pm incident, it is learnt that the formwork and scaffolding on the top deck collapsed during the concretion of the slab.
Some of the workers carrying out extension works under the slab were buried and trapped when the liquid concrete collapsed.
Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana) in a statement confirmed the incident at the LRT extension site near the Ampang depot.
Prasarana said the four workers had sustained minor injuries and confirmed that some are trapped.
"The injured workers were immediately given first aid treatment and rushed to the hospital. They are currently being treated at the hospital," it read.
Earlier it was reported that 3 workers were trapped under the concrete slab.
