IPOH: The government will ensure budget allocation for flood aid operations nationwide is enough to ensure smooth process.

This includes topping up the allocated RM50 million, which was provided on top of the existing budget of ministries involved in the operations.

Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah said the government is ready to approve more funds according to the need.

He said ministries and agencies involved are currently exhausting their respective budgets and portion of the RM50m received to carry out flood relief missions.

"The ministries and agencies currently conducting their missions are also doing their assessment on the situation.

"They will make requests to the Finance Ministry should they need more budget, and the government will make a decision based on this," he told reporters when met at the Taman Klebang Restu hall in Chemor, here, earlier today.

Ahmad Husni, who is also the BN member of Parliament for Tambun constituency, was there to deliver aid to 144 residents affected by flood in the area.

When asked on the estimated amount of losses due to the disaster, he said it was still too early to estimate.

He said related agencies will only start to make evaluation on the quantum of losses in the clean-up operations.
