Firstly, the Prime Minister said the government set aside an extra allocation amounting RM500 million to help victims rebuild their lives after the flood was over.

"For the first BR1M (1Malaysia cash payment for the people) payment next year, it will be brought forward to mid-January instead of end of that month to ease financial difficulty of the flood victims."

The other major assistance, Najib said banks and other financial institutions must restructure loan repayment of borrowers who were flood victims.

He was speaking to reporters during his day-long visit to Kelantan to lead response to flood in the state at Sultan Ismail Petra Airport here.

Najib arrived here just before 2pm and immediately attended a flood briefing at the airport before he boarded a helicopter to observe flood situation in Pasir Mas and Tanah Merah.
