Natural disaster SOP to be improved: Muhyiddin

CYBERJAYA: The country's natural disaster standard operating procedures (SOP) must be improved to ensure efficient rescue and aid distribution, said Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

Muhyiddin, who is also the National Disaster Management Committee chairman said logistics, food stock and flood protection infrastructure must be improved immediately to help alleviate the burden of the people.

"Although weather conditions are out of our hands, we've come prepared this year in terms of food stock and distribution bases.

"After this flooding subsides, we must review the SOPs immediately to ensure that all flood relief operations can be expedited," Muhyiddin said after visiting the National Disaster Control Centre here today.

Muhyiddin also held a video conference with Terengganu and Perak Menteri Besar during the briefing
