Econsave gives aid to flood victims

KLUANG: In an effort to reach out to flood victims housed in the relief centre in Kampung Mengkibol, the Kluang Econsave supermarket recently contributed much-needed aid to the affected families.

Johor Econsave operations manager Mas Imran Adam said the
assistance given was to comple-ment aid given by the Welfare Department.

“What is more important is that all the victims’ welfare is looked after and the assistance rendered by this company hopefully alleviates their hardship.”

He said Econsave would continue with the relief work as part of the company’s effort to assist the government in giving out aid during the floods.

“We will be in contact with various non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to assist the victims in the flood areas,” he said during the handover ceremony at the temporary flood relief centre in Kampung Mengkibol, here, last Sunday.

Mahkota assemblyman Md Jais Sarday, who was also present at the centre, thanked the organisers for their assistance.

He hoped that more corporate bodies and NGOs could assist the flood victims in the district.

Md Jais said the state government will make every effort to channel aid to those affected by the floods in Kluang.

Present at the event was Kluang district officer Mohd Fuad Radzuan, Kluang Municipal council president Adib Azhari Daud and Kluang fire and Rescue Department chief Akob Sidek.
