Jakim distributes aid worth RM146,000 to flood victims in Kelantan

RANTAU PANJANG: Some 200 flood victims who were affected by the second-wave of floods received aid worth RM146,000 from the Islamic Development Department (Jakim) today.

The aid which comprised cash, dry food and other necessities, was distributed to flood victims from the Rantau Panjang area.

A simple ceremony to hand over the donation was held at Masjid Jubli Perak Sultan Ismail Petra or locally known as 'Masjid Beijing'.

Presenting the donation was Jakim deputy director-general (operation) Ruslan Said.

Speaking to reporters later, Ruslan said the donation was part of the Flood Aid Mission programme of the agencies under the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs).

He said the agencies included Yayaysan Pembangunan Ekonomi Islam Malaysia (YaPEIM) and Yayasan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia (Yadim).

"Today's donation was from the co-operation of various agencies under the Prime Minister's Department.

"We hopes that this aid will ease the burden suffered by flood victims in Rantau Panjang," he said.

He added Jakim would continue with a similar programme to help flood victims in the country.

"This is not our first mission. Before this, we have donated to flood victims in Selangor and tomorrow, we will visit flood victims in Terengganu and will hand over similar aid there," he added.
