Perak accepted our contributions, says Azmin

SHAH ALAM: Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali denied recent online reports that the Perak government has refused to accept RM100,000 flood aid contribution from the state government.

"I am not aware of the matter (rejection). What I'm certain is that the cheque was sent by hand to the office of Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Zambry Abdul Kadir earlier this week and we even received a confirmation of their acceptance," he said.

Yesterday, the state exco for Health, Welfare, Women and Families Affairs, Dr Daroyah Alwi had claimed that the Perak state government had refused to accept the contribution and expressed regret over the matter.

When asked about Dr Daroyah's allegation, Azmin said, "I do not have the information on Dr Daroyah's claims. The facts at hand are that we have, on record, the delivery and acceptance of the cheque from Zambry's office.

"Perak is the only state where I did not go to give the contribution myself but we have valid confirmation from them that the cheque has been received and accepted," he said at the handover ceremony for flood donations from state government-linked companies and private entities at the state secretariat building.

Azmin recently visited flood-hit Terengganu, Kelantan and Pahang and gave each state government contributions on behalf of the Selangor government.

Dr Daroyah, when met at the event, refused to comment.
