Claims of sufficient numbers of SDs not acceptable, says Zahid

KUALA LUMPUR: The claims that Perikatan Nasional (PN) has already obtained sufficient numbers of statutory declarations (SD) are not acceptable, as the declarations were invalid.

"The SD is not valid," said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi after chairing a coordinating meeting between the Rural and Regional Development Ministry and the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) today.

Zahid said this in response to a question on PN's claims that it has enough declarations to overthrow the unity government.

On Jan 7, Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor claimed that PN already obtained sufficient numbers of SD to overthrow the unity government.

However, the PN election director did not provide details on the matter, including the number of SDs obtained.

A day before, it was reported that PN denied a statement claiming that the Yang di-Pertuan Agong had agreed to grant an audience to 118 MPs.

The false statement was claimed to be issued by PN secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, as circulated on social media.

On allegations that there were BN-Umno members of parliament who had signed the SD, Zahid said the matter did not arise as the SD did not exist.
