More vessels to join MH370 search

GENTING HIGHLANDS: Malaysia, Australia and China are in the midst of discussions to acquire a fourth vessel to expedite the search mission for missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 in Southern Indian Ocean.

Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said the vessel, Fugro Supporter, will join three other vessels - Fugro Discovery, Fugro Equator and Go Phoenix - at the search area once the deal is secured.

"We are still discussing this matter with Australia and China. We can't give a definite date yet, but we will announce it once we have confirmation.

"Looking at the challenging conditions of the ocean, we need to deploy more equipment," he said, after the MCA Negri Sembilan Cadres Training Camp closing ceremony here, today.

Liow said the search team had scoured 26 per cent of the 60,000 sq km area, which had been identified as the 'highest possibility' area.
