Stop speculating on MH370

SUBANG: Former Department of Civil Aviation chief Datuk Seri Azharuddin Abdul Rahman has told all parties to refrain from speculating on doomed aircraft MH370 as it would disturb the emotions of the families.

Speaking to media at the 10th Remembrance Event for Malaysian Airlines flight MH370, he predicted that many rumors would surface as the disappearance date of March 8 drew closer.

"Our thoughts and prayers have always been with the next-of-kin of the passengers and crew on board.

"Please don't release any speculations (on MH370) and disturb the emotions of the families. This is a normal occurrence for peoplr to release speculations nearing the incident date," he said.

Azaruddin said his memories of the incident is still fresh in his mind despite 10 years have passed.

"It's an experience I cannot forget. From the first press (conference) to the last, the finding of the debris, rushing here and there.

"Everything is still fresh in my mind," he said.

Flight MH370 carrying 239 crews and passengers left Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) for Beijing on March, 8 2014. It however vanished from the radar screen about two hours after takeoff with almost no news to date.

On Friday, analysts have accused the authorities of showing little interest in the search for the missing airliner.

In an interview on 60 Minutes Australia, aerospace engineer Richard Godfrey said this is despite the surfacing of fresh clues, which may have led to the discovery of the aircraft in a short amount of time.

Meanwhile, on speculations that the debris identified are not from MH370, former Air Accident Investigation Bureau Aslam Basha Khan lead investigator said his team had tried their best to verify the debris.

He said at the same event that despite some debris not having a serial number, they had other means to verify the debris.

"There are other ways (to confirm the debris) which includes the coating of the paint. All of this has beeen covered by the investigators," he said briefly.

It was reported that three wing fragments, known as the flaperon, have been confirmed to be from MH370.

It was also reported that 27 pieces of aircraft debris have been collected from various places around the world.
