2 housing models to be rebuilt for east coast flood victims

PUTRAJAYA: The government has identified two housing models which would be rebuilt on the lands of those who lost their homes completely during the east coast floods.

Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said ‎the landed properties were of 660 sqm with three rooms and one bathroom.

He said the contractors would be appointed by the government and a maximum of 75 days would be given for them to hand over the houses.

Aside from that, Muhyiddin also said ‎the Cabinet on Jan 14, had decided that all post flood relief efforts must be consistent and streamlined across all affected states.

He said it was to ensure that all efforts and aid given would be equal for all the east coast states and by doing so, it would avoid dissatisfaction or feelings of inequality among the victims in the affected states.

Muhyiddin, who chaired the post flood committee meeting today, also said the total loss incurred from the floods stand at RM2.9 billion.
