Prof Dr Zulkiple appointed as USIM deputy VC

NILAI: Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who is also the Education Minister, has appointed Prof Dr Zulkiple Abd Ghani as the new Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International) of Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) for the next three years, effective Jan 15, 2015 to Jan 14, 2018.

Zulkiple, 50, hails from Kedah and has a Doctorate of Philosophy from the University of Edinburgh in the field of preaching, communications and Islamic media, and holds a bachelor’s degree in Preaching and Leadership from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), said USIM in a statement today.

USIM said Zulkiple’s academic career began at UKM as a lecturer in its Preaching and Leadership Department (PLD) from 1996-2001, and he was the head of the PLD from 1997-2003. He was also senior fellow of the Institute of Islam Hadhari, UKM from 2007-2009.

“He then moved to USIM in 2009 as a professor in the Faculty of Leadership and Management (FLM), became the Deputy Dean (Academic and Research) of FLM from 2010-2012 and was subsequently appointed as FLM dean on March 1, 2012,” said USIM.

Throughout his tenure in USIM, Zulkiple contributed significantly towards the development of the university. --Bernama
