Pas lashes out at Guan Eng

KUALA LUMPUR: DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng has been labeled as "celupar" (foul-mouthed) for calling Pas leaders dishonest, in the latest local government election furore.

Pas secretary-general Datuk Mustafa Ali said Lim should not have lied to imply that Pas had agreed to the election, as reported in a news portal recently.

Lim was reportedly to have said that he had consulted Pas president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang and Mustafa over the matter, before pushing for the implementation of the "third vote" at court in 2012.

Mustafa at a Press conference today, bared all of what had transpired between him and Lim over the issue.

"He did call me to talk about the matter. But I did not say I agree. Then I asked Lim, what should I tell the media (for comments)?

"Lim requested me just to be positive about it, and added that he was pressured by several non-governmental organisations to push for the election because it is among DAP's election promises."

Mustafa said it was unfair for Lim to label him as dishonest and warned the Penang chief minister to be mindful of his words.

"Lets take an example when it comes to hudud. Lim did not oppose to Pas' participation in the special committee, which was set up by the federal government to study the implementation of hudud.

"Is it fair for me to say that Lim or DAP had agreed to hudud? Of course not."

Mustafa also challenged Lim to face-off in a debate over the issue.

"Let us meet one on one on this matter in a forum or debate. Lim can tell his version of the story then and there."
