Alleged KLM advisory has no basis

KUALA LUMPUR: The Home Ministry and police have dismissed a terror threat advisory that the Royal Dutch Airlines (KLM) allegedly issued to its crew and staff on possible attacks by Islamic State (IS) jihadists in Malaysia.

In the advisory, dated Jan 26, KLM crew and staff were advised to be vigilant and to stay away from populated areas.

Deputy Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said the police were investigating the legitimacy of the advisory, which was valid up to Feb 2.

Wan Junaidi assured the public that Malaysia was safe and the purported advisory has no basis.

An image of the alleged advisory, bearing the letterhead KLM Security Services was widely circulated via social networking sites and Whatsapp messenger.
