GEORGE TOWN: In remembrance of those perished in the ill-fated MH370 and MH17, Malaysia Airlines handed some 3,000 vegetarian food packets and drinks at their Thaipusam thaneer panthal here yesterday.

The refreshment stall along Jalan Kebun Bunga was a hit with hundreds of devotees heading towards the Arulmigu Balathandayuthapani hilltop temple.

Some 24 staffs from the Penang MASkargo division, ground and air crew from Kuala Lumpur joined in to help hand out food to everyone.

Organising chairman A. Raja Segaran said although they have been organising stalls such as these for the past four years, this year was significant due to the twin disasters that the airline had to go through.

"We are really touched by the confidence and trust by the people who visited our booth that our airline is renowned for is being restored.

"But as we hand out these food packets, we also pray for those who has perished and their grieving families," said the 54-year-old in-flight supervisor.

The MAS stall also features a unique image of Lord Murugan made from 1,000 sequins from the United States, which was a big hit among visitors on their way to the hilltop temple.
