3 months extension for LDP contraflow

KUALA LUMPUR: The trial period for the contraflow at the Damansara-Puchong Highway (LDP) is extended for three months.

Lingkaran Trans Kota Sdn Bhd (Litrak) chief executive officer Sazally Saidi said the trial period, which commenced in December, was extended to June 7 as its implementation had received mixed reactions by motorists.

"We have seen improvements in traffic flow especially from the Petaling Jaya toll plaza towards the Federal highway. Out of the 500,000 LDP daily users, 32 per cent have shifted to the contraflow lane.

"We have also received complaints by highway users who got confused with the traffic flow. This is why we decided to extend the trial and fine tune the system. If we see further improvements, we might implement this permanently."

The new contraflow scheme starts at KM21.0 (opposite UOB bank and HSBC bank), right after the IOI Mall, Puchong from 6.30am to 9am.

With the implementation of contraflow, LDP users from Puchong/ Putrajaya/ Shah Alam heading to Kelana Jaya will be able to by-pass the heavy traffic between Puchong Jaya and Petaling Jaya Toll Plaza (3KM) during the morning peak.

The contraflow exit is at KM18.0 and the dedicated lane is meant for cars only.

He also announced RM0.60 and RM0.20 discounts for all LDP and Sprint toll respectively, on Thursday from 12.01am until midnight.

Sazally was met during a corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme at a non-profit home, Rumah Charis in Taman Yarl, in conjunction with the coming Chinese New Year.

During the event, he was brought for a tour by home volunteers.

He also distributed goodie bags and ang pow worth RM100 each to the 38 children there.
