KUALA LUMPUR: Police solved the case of a 60-year-old woman who was found dead a day after she was kidnapped in Subang Jaya with the arrest of the seventh suspect, yesterday.

Selangor Criminal Investigation Department chief Datuk Mohd Adnan Abdullah said the suspect was nabbed at a condominium in a special operation.

"A group of police from the Selangor Criminal Investigation Department raided a condominium unit at Gat Lebuh Macallum and picked up the 23-year-old man at 7.30pm," he said.

Adnan said with the arrest of the suspect, the case has been solved.

On Friday, a businesswoman was abducted near Sunway Pyramid, Subang Jaya.

Her body was discovered a day after she was reported missing, floating in Sungai Kerian near Kampung Sungai Udang in Nibong Tebal, Penang.

The case was investigated under Section 3(1) of the Kidnapping Act 1961 and if found guilty, the suspects face the death penalty or life imprisonment.

Police had earlier arrested four men and two women aged between 19 and 28 to facilitate investigation.

The motive behind the kidnapping was ransom as the suspects had demanded RM2 million from the victim's family.

The family did not meet the ransom demand.
