Police tracking down another suspect in accountant murder case

KUALA LUMPUR: Police are currently tracking down another suspect believed to be involved in the murder case of a private company accountant at Jalan Kuari, Kampung Cheras Baru, here, last week.

Previously, two male suspects were detained after being believed to be involved in the discovery of the accountant's body before it was classified as a murder case.

Kuala Lumpur Police Chief, Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid, said that they have identified the identity of the third suspect based on information and further investigation.

"We are currently searching for the relevant suspect, while the two other suspects detained on Dec 12 will complete their remand today.

"We will refer to the deputy public prosecutor for further action (whether to extend the remand or not)," he said after attending the monthly gathering here today.

Previously, the media reported that seven individuals had given statements to assist in the investigation into the case.

Police have recorded statements from seven individuals, consisting of family and friends of the victim.

The body of the 28-year-old man was found lying face down and undressed by the public at around 6am on Dec 11 before reporting it to the police.

At the time of discovery, there were no identification documents on the victim, but his identity was later confirmed by his family.

The results of the autopsy revealed that the cause of death was due to several injuries on the victim's body caused by being beaten with a blunt object.
