KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit opened higher against the US dollar today on renewed interest following demand from oil exporters for month-end settlements, said a dealer.
At 9.01am, the local note was quoted at 3.6205/6235 against the greenback from Tuesday’s 3.6400/6430.
Meanwhile, the local unit was also traded higher against other major currencies.
It appreciated against the Singapore dollar to 2.6686/6712 from 2.6745/6771 yesterday and rose against the euro to 4.1085/1130 from 4.1194/123.
The ringgit gained against the pound to 5.6002/6063 from 5.6216/6281 recorded on Tuesday and was higher versus the yen at 3.0496/0534 from 3.0506/0534 yesterday.-- BERNAMA
