KL shares edge lower in early trade

KUALA LUMPUR: The benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) edged down this morning on selective trading as traders remained on sidelines, a dealer said.

At 9.20am, the key index stood at 1,818.53, down 2.34 points, after opening slightly higher at 1,822.27. On the broader market, losers outpaced gainers 312 to 290, with 280 counters unchanged, 884 untraded and 33 others suspended.

On other scoreboard, the FBM Emas Index shed 19.38 points to 12,534.92, the FBMT100 Index eased 19.06 points to 12,206.66 while the FBM Emas Syariah Index slipped 12.56 points to 13,124.92.

The FBM 70 declined 33.96 points to 13,540.08, the FBM Ace depreciated 9.60 points to 6,659.61 while on a sectorial basis, the Finance Index shed 10.87 points to 15,900.49, the Industrial Index dipped 8.99 points to 3,332.53 and the Plantation Index trimmed 2.99 points to 8,082.09. Among heavyweights, Maybank perked one sen to RM9.17, Tenaga gained ten sen to RM14.60, Public bank eased four sen to RM18.34 and Axiata slipped three sen to RM7.14.

Actively traded stocks this morning included Hubline, Diversified Gateway, Flonic, RGB International and Wintoni. --BERNAMA
