KUALA LUMPUR: One Bangladeshi national was killed while another Bangladeshi worker was injured after about 400 kilogramme of steel collapsed on them in an incident at the Mass Rapid Transit Semantan portal, Jalan Duta, here, today.
MRT Corporation Sdn Bhd director for strategic communications and public relations Amir Mahmood Razak said three workers were assembling a rebar (reinforcement bar) cage, when the wires that holding the cage gave way and fell on the workers.
"The victim, identified as Rijaul Abdul Goni, 40-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.
Another victim, identified as Shanaullah, 37-year-old, was injured and was sent to Kuala Lumpur Hospital," he said when met at the scene.
Amir said another worker, Rozlu Karim escaped unhurt in the incident.
He added investigations were ongoing to determine the cause of the incident.
