KUCHING: Sarawak born-crooner Mohd Hafiz Mohd Suip finally ended his days of bachelorship when he got engaged with a 22-year-old university student last night.
Steep in Sarawak Malay tradition, the engagement ceremony for the Akademi Fantasia season seven fame and Nureffy Jesreel Abdullah was held at the Pullman Hotel here.
Apparently, the “Ombak Rindu” singer held the engagement ceremony during his 25th birthday celebration.
Hafiz and his entourage of family members were seen clad with a matching purple attires during the ceremony, which was also attended by relatives and close friends of the couple.
They arrived at a hall of the hotel with 11 hantaran (gifts) trays, which was reciprocated with 13 trays from Nureffy’s family.
When met after the ceremony, Hafiz said he and Nureffy decided to get engaged after one year of courtship.
“I am grateful that everything went well during the ceremony,” he said.
Asked on when he would tied the knot, Hafiz said he would wait until Nureffy completed her studies at a local university in the middle of next year.
