BESUT: A 25-year-old man was arrested by policemen for his connection in vehicle thefts, when he was parking his car in Jerteh yesterday morning.
According to a source, the suspect from Pasir Putih, Kelantan with another accomplice were seen driving around Jerteh in their Proton Satria before finally making a stop in front of a hotel.
In the 6.10am incident, policemen approach the suspects’ car and they tried to make an escape.
"A small commotion happen as the police approach the two men but they manage to detain the suspect while his accomplice escaped," said the source adding that further investigation revealed that the detainee is tested positive for methamphetamine. He also confessed to involve in vehicle thefts around Jerteh area.
Meanwhile District police chief Superintendent Khalid Che Lah said the suspect was being remanded at the Besut police station under Section 379A of vehicle thefts.
He said police seized a cutter, an axe and the Proton Satria which was believed to be stolen.
