Bridge collapses in Padawan

PADAWAN: Four villages are cut off from the city when the main bailey bridge collapsed today.

In the 10am incident, a 46-year-old lorry driver was negotiating the trail when the bridge believed to have given way due to the lorry’s weight.

The driver identified as Ng Kon Fatt escaped with no injuries but the bridge that served excess to nearly 250 families is now beyond repair.

Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson said among the villages affected includes Kampung Sadir, Simuti, Sibuabag and Sebekar.

Last month, nearly 10 meter long of the Borneo Highlands road collapsed due to the monsoon, cutting not only the road but also the water means to the area.
