Over 400 dogs receive rabies vaccination in Padawan

KUCHING: In an effort to combat rabies, 417 dogs received their vaccinations at the anti-Rabies drive held by the Padawan Municipal Council and Sarawak's Department of Veterinary Services at Taman Desa Wira Community Hall last Saturday, the Sarawak Public Communications Unit reported.

The council's Environmental Health assistant officer Sumi Linggi announced plans for the initiative's continuation next month, with sessions planned for Landeh, Matang, Batu 7 (Matang), Batu Kawah, and Puncak Borneo. The programme is also open to dogs from outside the council's jurisdiction.

Highlighting the success of the event, Sumi also shared information about a neutering subsidy programme that offers RM150 per dog, catering to 50 female dogs per session. Eligibility for this subsidy requires dogs to be licensed with the council and vaccinated.

Due to high demand, slots are offered on a first-come, first-served basis, aiming to reduce neutering costs significantly, making it more affordable for dog owners within the community.
