Selangor denies 36-hour water cut

SHAH ALAM: The Selangor state government today denied that a 36-hour water cut will be implemented throughout the state starting tonight.

Infrastructure and Public Utilities, Agriculture Modernisation and Agro-Based Industry Committee chairman, Zaidy Abdul Talib in a statement said a message, which went viral via WhatsApp application, claiming a 36-hour water cut, was false and spread by irresponsible parties to cause panic among users.

"The information spread via WhatsApp is not true. The state government calls on all users not to speculate or deliberately create false information which can cause panic among the public especially consumers in Selangor," he said.

The false information read: "Attention to all. Store enough water (tonight) as water supply will be cut for 36 hours throughout Selangor."

Zaidy, in the same statement, urged all users to refer to Syabas website at www.syabas.com.my for the latest update on water supply.

"We regret this incident and urged residents to verify any information before forwarding it to others," he said.
