Water disruption in Selangor starts today

KUALA LUMPUR: More than 400,000 households in around 400 areas at four districts in Selangor will face a three-day water disruption starting today following the shutdown of the Sungai Semenyih treatment plant yesterday.

There are 216 areas in Hulu Langat (146,954 households), 61 areas in Sepang (148,236 households), 72 areas in Kuala Langat (45,029 households) and another 39 areas affected in Petaling (135,000 households).

Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor (Syabas) corporate communication and public affairs general manager Priscilla Alfred said water supply would recover in stages over less than three days.

Water supply is expected to be fully restored on Friday midnight.

The water treatment plant has been shut down at 5.15pm yesterday due to high level of Manganese and Ammonia in Sungai Semenyih.
