KL shares easier mid afternoon

KUALA LUMPUR: Share prices on Bursa Malaysia remained in the red mid-afternoon on continued profit-taking in most heavyweights, dealers said.

At 3.07 pm, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 18.45 points better at 1,807.29.

On the broader market, losers thumped gainers 586 to 216 with 247 counters unchanged, 712 untraded and 18 others were suspended.

Turnover stood at 1.33 billion shares worth RM1.22 billion.

The FBMT100 Index declined 109.75 points to 12,118.36, the FBM Emas Syariah Index fell 73.97 points to 13,027.43 and the FBM Emas Index dipped 108.27 points to 12,430.61.

The FBM 70 lost 72.63 points to 13,392.6 and the FBM Ace dropped 90.63 points to 6,532.65.

Sector-wise, the Industrial Index decreased 13.21 points to 3,314.77, the Plantation Index weakened 29.89 points to 7,958.55 while the Finance Index shed 159.89 points to 15,943.56.

Of heavyweights, Maybank and TNB slipped eight sen each to RM9.20 and RM16.64, respectively, Public Bank dipped 18 sen to RM18.64 while Axiata was flat at RM7.13.

Active stocks, Ingenuity Consolidated and Takaso Resources were both flat at seven sen and 48.5 sen, respectively while Wintoni and AsiaBioenergy earned half-a-sen each to 26 sen and 11.5 sen, respectively. -- BERNAMA
