KUALA LUMPUR: A Bangladeshi tourist was sentenced to 18 months jail and a stroke of rotan for inappropriately touching the buttock of a 42-year-old woman last month.
Arifuj Jaman, 28, who pleaded guilty to the charge told magistrate Ashraf Rezal Abdul Manan that his action was unintentional.
He was accused to have molested the victim who was a traditional medical practitioner near shoplots along Jalan Tun Tan Siew Sin at 12.30pm on Feb 18.
Deputy public prosecutor Nor Diana Nor Azwa submitted that Arifuj's sentence must be one that could teach him a lesson as his actions had caused embarrassment and fear to the victim.
The accused was represented by counsel Ahmad Fairuz Arsyad.
