Lions attack animal keeper in Southern Indian Zoo

BENGALURU: An animal keeper was attacked by two safari lions at the Bannerghatta Biological Park in southern Indian state of Karnataka.

The incident occurred when a group of staff led by a veterinarian was attempting to vaccinate the male lions in their holding area, Press Trust of India (PTI) reported.

The park’s executive director Range Gowda said the lions escaped from their enclosure and attacked animal keeper Sri Krishna after he accidentally lifted the side gate of the den.

Krishna is undergoing treatment at a hospital where his condition is said to be serious. –BERNAMA
