BN ministers have declared their assets to PM, MACC: Khairy

PUTRAJAYA: Barisan Nasional cabinet ministers have declared their assets to the prime minister and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), said Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.

“Before I took the oath as a minister, I declared my assets too. Every Member of Parliament (MP) also must declare his/her assets.

“So the issue (to declare assets) does not arise. We may not declare it to the public, but we do it,” he told reporters after attending the ‘Projek Angkat Dan Upaya’ (PADU) programme at the ministry here today.

Khairy said this in response to Gua Musang MP Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah’s proposal yesterday that all past and present cabinet ministers declare their assets and liabilities to avoid a conflict of interest.

Yesterday, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim said all BN lawmakers had declared their assets and this had been the common practice for some time.

Tengku Razaleigh’s call for ministers and MPs, past and present, to declare their assets came on the heels of a move by PKR Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli to declare his wealth last week. – BERNAMA
