The Jacksons promise high-energy show for F1 Gala

KUALA LUMPUR: Sepang International Circuit (SIC) has flown in legendary American singers The Jacksons and fashion gurus George Kotsiopoulos and Cameron Silver for the Petronas Malaysia Grand Prix Gala 2015.

The annual event, now in its 11th year, will be held tomorrow at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre starting from 7pm.

“Every year we try to up the stakes by attempting something different and exciting for the Gala,” SIC chairman Datuk Mokhzani Mahathir said at a Press conference yesterday.

“This year’s event is a fusion of high fashion and music. The trump card, the ace up our sleeves is The Jacksons.”

A long-time fan of The Jacksons, Mokhzani adds that having the music legens over is a dream come true.

“Their music is evergreen and has been part of our lives for a long time.

“Their addition to the Gala will make the night much more amazing and memorable,” he said.

The Jacksons will be performing their hits including I Want You Back, ABC, I’ll Be There and Can You Feel It, at the Gala concert at 9pm.

“We will be also singing our Motown hits and a tribute to Michael,” Tito Jackson says.

“It’s going to be a high-energy show. We’ll make you feel really young, so bring your dancing shoes.”

Before the concert, former E! Fashion Police host Katsiopoulos will be anchoring the red carpet event alongside Malaysian actress Nur Fazura.

“This is my first time in Malaysia, and I’m looking forward to seeing everyone looking so beautiful,” Katsiopoulos said.

Known as the King Of Vintage, Silver will prepare a fashion showcase of vintage haute couture.

“The fashion show will be a retrospective of 20th century greatest fashion hits, featuring top designers including Chanel, Balenciaga and Oscar de la Renta.

“I hope it will be a nice 30 minutes of ultra glamour. Fast cars and fast fashion — a nice combination,” Silver said.

A part of the Gala is a fund-raising auction where the proceeds will go to the charity organisation Bidara Kedah.

The items that will be auctioned off are a 18-karat white gold ring by jeweller Mouawad, a Jaeger-LeCoultre watch, a painting by Terengganu-born Suzlee Ibrahim and two Petronas racing suits signed by Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg.

Attendees of the event include F1 team principals and drivers, captains of industries, members of the royalty, local and international celebrities, fashionistas and socialites.

Also in attendance at the Press conference were SIC chief executive officer Datuk Razlan Razali and Bidara Kedah president Tok Puan Norzieta Zakaria.
