Sarawak DAP's exit from Pakatan is unfortunate: Baru Bian

KUCHING: State PKR has described the exit of its former ally, DAP, from the Sarawak Pakatan alliance as "unfortunate".

Its chairman Baru Bian, in a statement, alluded that the party will remain in the opposition fold when he said PKR was willing to work with any political parties opposed to the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition.

"It is unfortunate that DAP Sarawak has resolved to leave Pakatan Rakyat.

"We further give emphasis to and maintain that we are willing to cooperate with any party with the main aim of providing a credible and better alternative coalition to BN, both at the federal and the state level," said Baru Bian, who is also Ba'kelalan state assemblyman.

PKR, he said, would maintained with its stance in rejecting the implementation of the hudud law in any parts of the country as aspired by Pas.

"Pakatan Rakyat is founded on common policy framework of which hudud as advocated by PAS is not a part of.

We have made our stance very clear from the beginning and we have repeated and reiterated PKR Sarawak’s stance against the implementation of hudud in Malaysia," he said.
