Man sentenced to death for killing computer engineer

SHAH ALAM: A wireman was sent to the gallows by the High Court for killing a computer engineer with multiple hammer strikes to the head after breaking into his home three years ago.

Judge Abdul Halim Aman handed down the sentence on Mohd Naim Ramli, 27, after finding him guilty of murdering Loh Min Lee.

In his judgement, Abdul Halim ruled that the prosecution had succeeded to prove its case beyond a reasonable doubt at the end of the defence case.

"The court finds that the defence's statement was a mere denial and therefore he is guilty for causing the death of the victim," he said.

The judge also ruled that the 13th prosecution witness was the accused's accomplice in the house break-in incident.

"SP13 is a credible witness as he was there during the incident and his statements were consistent, clear and did not intend to hide any evidence," Abdul Halim said.

On Dec 26, 2012, Naim was accused of murdering Loh at his home on Jalan Putra Perdana, Puchong at 4.15am on Dec 7, 2012.

It was reported that Loh's body was found by his mother lying on a blood-soaked mattress, in a room on the second floor of the house six days after the incident.

Loh, who worked as a computer engineer in Cyberjaya, is believed to have died after suffering multiple blows to the head.

Deputy public prosecutors Rosidah Abu Bakar and T. Deepa Nair prosecuted while the accused was represented by counsel Halim Ashgar Mohd Hilmi.
