Floods: Kelantan thanks Fed govt for restoration works

KOTA BARU: The Kelantan Government today thanked the federal government for helping the PAS-led state in restoration works after being badly affected by the devastating floods last December.

State Local Government, Housing, Youth and Sports Committee chairman Datuk Abdul Fattah Mahmood said the federal government, through the Ministry of Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government, had always given full cooperation in the best interest of the people. “Thanks to the federal government (that) had given allocation for infrastructure repairs under the (supervision) of local authorities that were affected by the floods,” he told reporters after flagging off a convoy for the Jerlun International 4x4 Xtreme Challenge 2015 in Kota Darul Naim here today. He said restoration works in some badly hit districts such as Kuala Krai and Tanah Merah have already been implemented.

“In Kuala Krai, we have requested to build a new (district council) building because the area is prone to flooding every year and we have given the suggestion to the ministry and on principle they have agreed to build a new office in Kuala Krai,” he said.--BERNAMA
