BUKIT MERTAJAM: Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today issued a stern warning that irresponsible quarters who resort to uttering personal attacks via social media in the Permatang Pauh by-election would be dealt with a stern action.
Zahid said the police would not compromise any act of uploading video footage to defame or discredit any of the candidates.
"The police will act against culprits for ignoring directive not to solicit votes through personal attacks in the social media.
"The voters are fed up with the slanderous statements made by Pakatan Rakyat against Barisan Nasional in the past seven elections and by-elections since 1998," he said.
Zahid, who is also Umno vice-president, was speaking to reporters after launching Umno Puteri election machinery in Wisma Transformarsi here today.
