The capital city of Malaysia is Kuala Lumpur and like many cities, holds so many historical moments, in this case, its name.
In 1881, a small town in the meeting of two rivers: Klang River and Gombak River was swept by a massive flood which was earlier engulfed in fire.
These successive events destroyed the wood and atap structures and the aftermath had rendered the town in a muddy state which is what it is called today, Kuala Lumpur meaning muddy estuary.
