Alleged Petaling Street stripper allowed bail

KUALA LUMPUR: The magistrate's court granted RM7,000 bail to a Sabahan part-time model who is charged with public indecency at Petaling Street early last month.

Magistrate Siti Radziah Kamarudin today allowed the bail with one surety for 32-year-old Persana Avril Sollunda.

Siti Radziah also ordered Persana to report to the nearest police station twice a month and to surrender her passport, warning the accused not to leave the Peninsula Malaysia for Sabah.

Persana, widely known as Shanna Avril, was alleged to have committed the offence at the Petaling Street on April 23.

A video of the alleged incident - where a woman was seen stripping topless during an argument with a stall vendor - has since gone viral.

Persana may be jailed up to three months, a fine or both if convicted under Section 294(a) of the Penal Code.

The court previously fixed May 29 for mention.

Prosecution was conducted by deputy public prosecutor N. Joy Jothi while counsel Muhammad Nor Izzat Nordin acted for Persana.
