Ex-Slam singer fined RM5,500 for drugs

KUALA LUMPUR: Ex-vocalist of pop-rock band Slam, Zamani Ibrahim and his personal assistant were each fined RM5,500 for drug-possession and consumption.

Ampang Court Magistrate Ayuni Izzaty Sulaiman ordered Zamani and co-accused Nur Juliana Abdul Rani each to serve 18 months in jail if they fail to pay the fine.

Ayuni also ordered the duo to be put under a two-year supervision by the National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK).

On Jan 29, Zamani, 43, and Nur Juliana, 32, were charged with possessing 1.2 grammes of heroin at a house at Jalan Enggang Timor Satu, Taman Keramat Hulu Langat around 12.30am on Jan 21.

The duo were also separately charged with taking morphine and methampetamine respectively, at the narcotics investigation department office at the Ampang Jaya police headquarters, between 2am and 2.05am the same day.

Deputy public prosecutor Goh Ai Rene prosecuted while both accused were represented by counsel Ahmad Zaharil Muhaiyar.
