Permatang Pauh by-election: Over 11pc voted as at 9am

BUKIT MERTAJAM: A total of 8,119 or 11.3 per cent of the 71,252 voters have cast their votes in the Permatang Pauh by-election today as at 9am.

The polling conducted at 25 voting centres began at 8am and will be closed at 5pm.

The votes will be counted at the respective voting centres after voting closes and the results will be announced at Institusi Kemahiran Belia Negeri here.

The Permatang Pauh Parliamentary by-election today sees a four-cornered fight between Suhaimi Sabudin from the Barisan Nasional, PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Azman Shah Othman (Parti Rakyat Malaysia) and Salleh Isahak (Independent).

The by-election was called after its incumbent Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim lost his eligibility to be a member of Parliament following his conviction for sodomy. He is currently serving a five-year jail sentence.
